Full-Time Ministry Opportunity

One of our major mission emphases at Calvin Presbyterian Church(EPC) is reaching students. We started a community ministry called Kids Quest in 2021 to help us with that mission. Kids Quest is uniquely formed as an evangelistic ministry to students and has run an after-school ministry for kids in grades 1-4 since 2021. In 2022, Kids Quest began a Released Time ministry, teaching Bible class during the school day. It has grown to more than 65 students across 4 grade levels. More than half of these children have no church family, and minimal understanding of the gospel or the Bible. Kids Quest has seen many children take steps forward in their journeys of faith, including some who have made professions of faith.

God has blessed us to see fruit in these ministries and the discipleship ministries to children & youth in our church has grown in the past few years. We are seeing more families and children in worship and have begun new discipleship ministries to our children & youth.

The relationship and administrative bridge between the evangelistic ministry of Kids Quest and discipleship ministry of our church is the individual who serves as the Director of Children’s Ministry. This shared position reflects our value that faithful evangelism connects people to local churches and is meant to be a relationship bridge for students connecting through Kids Quest to our church.

Since our previous Director moved to another church, we are looking for someone to help us carry this important work forward. We are seeking a Director with enthusiasm for the vision, who will work with us to strengthen and develop the ministry of Kids Quest and to the children & youth of our church.

Director of Children’s Ministry

Status: Full-Time/ year-round

Purpose: To make disciples of children in Ellwood City, PA through ministries of Kids Quest and Calvin Presbyterian Church (EPC).

Responsibilities:

·       Plan, oversee, and lead the daily operation of Kids Quest ministries, including:

o   An after-school ministry for elementary students.

o   A weekly released time, Bible Class (during school hours), for grades 3-6.

·       Represent and promote Kids Quest to the community.

·       Lead in recruiting, training, and overseeing adult volunteers.

·       Take primary leadership for the children & youth ministries of Calvin Church:

o   Monthly children’s events.

o   Weekly youth group for teens.

·       Build intentional bridges between the Kids Quest students, Calvin Presbyterian Church and other local churches.

·       Write and submit grant applications for Kids Quest funding.

·       Participate broadly in the life and worship of the Calvin Presbyterian Church.

Qualifications:

·       A maturity in faith and passion for sharing Jesus with children and youth.

·       A commitment to the reformed faith and ability to affirm the Evangelical Presbyterian Church’s “Essentials of Our Faith.”

·       A self-starter with initiative and energy.

·       A strong communicator with ability to organize and direct volunteers.

·       Must pass all necessary background checks.

Accountability: This position will be responsible separately to the board of Kids Quest and the Calvin Presbyterian Church Session.

Compensation:  Competitive salary based on experience.
